53 Semakin baik kemampuan dan usaha, dan semakin mahasiswa tingkat pertama yang menjadi responden tidak meyakini konsep keberuntungan, maka semakin baik pula penyesuaian diri dalam menjalin hubungan dengan civitas academica di kampus; demikian sebaliknya.

B. SARAN

Adapun saran-saran yang diberikan berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini adalah:

1. Saran Metodologis

Penelitian selanjutnya diharapkan dapat mengungkap variabel lainnya yang berhubungan dengan penyesuaian diri selain locus of control, seperti Companionship Support dan Openness banyak disebutkan oleh peserta survei sebagai variabel yang berkaitan dengan penyesuaian diri yang telah dilakukan.

2. Saran Praktis

a. Mahasiswa diharapkan untuk mengoptimalkan kemampuan dan memaksimalkan usaha dalam menjalani perkuliahan b. Pihak universitas merancang program untuk membantu mahasiswa tingkat pertama dalam mempertahankan dan meningkatkan kemampuan penyesuaian diri, baik dalam bentuk penyediaan informasi, pelatihan, ataupun menyediakan pusat pendidikan dan konseling. Program disarankan untuk dilaksanakan di awal-awal semester satu.
