d. Reflecting Phase

The reflecting in cycle 1 is the writer still had difficulties in implementing the group work in the class. Based on the table above shows that the class was noisy because some students did not do their task together, they just walked to cheat or to disturb the other groups and also chatted each other. Hence, the writer should give more attention to all groups and warning in order the students did their task with their own group, did not walk around the class, did not cheat, did not disturb, and did not chat each other about another topic. Third, students gave up if they found unfamiliar words. In this case, the writer should advice the 46 Hess, op,cit., pp. 112 —113. student to bring the dictionary. Next, the writer concluded about implementing the action. They tried to modify the action in order students more comprehend in reading narrative text and in order 75 of students in the class could pass the KKM. Based on the result of the cycle 1, the data showed that the mean score of posttest was 70,75. There were 19 students who passed the Minimum Mastery Criterion – Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal KKM 75 seventy five. Meanwhile the other 21 students did not pass that criterion. In the result of cycle 1 showed only 19 of students who passes the KKM. However, based on the result of the first cycle, the writer and the teacher felt satisfied enough because they were able to improve students‘ reading comprehension of narrative text, although not 75 students passed the KKM. Beside, the students could understand the material easily by using group work. That technique could help them to share the ideas in comprehending of narrative text and to teach each other in determining and analyzing schematic structures of narrative text. In the cycle 1, there was an improvement done by students. However, the improvement had not passed the KKM yet. From the reflecting phase above, the writer must have more efforts to develop students‘ reading comprehension of narrative text by using group work technique. It was needed to improve again in the next cycle.

2. Cycle 2

a. Planning Phase

After finding the result of cycle 1, students‘ reading comprehension did not reach the target in their test‘s score of cycle 1, the writer modified the previous lesson plan based on the result of reflecting phase in the first cycle. The lesson plan which was used still related to learning narrative text by using group work. On the other hand, there were some modifications in the second cycle. The teacher got the students to bring dictionary and gave the meaning of some unfamiliar words based on studen ts‘ request in doing exercise of group work technique. It was caused to ensure their reading comprehension concerning schematic structure of narrative text and to emphasize students‘ work in their own group. Moreover, the writer will give punishment to the student who is not contributing while doing the task. The punishment is the student should make a written story in Narrative text style and heshe have to read the story in front of the class room. The writer also prepared the test for cycle 2 to collect the data.

b. Acting Phase

The action of the cycle two was done on April 13 rd , 15 th, and 20 th 2016. After reviewing the previous lesson, the writer got students to read the text and gave them some minutes to identify and to look up the unfamiliar words of the text by using their dictionary. Then, the students determined the schematic structures of the text by themselves. Afterwards, the teacher asked students some questions related to the text. Then, the students were divided into eight groups and asked to arrange jumble paragraph of narrative text into a good passage. Then, students are asked to find unfamiliar words in their dictionary, if they did not find it in the dictionary, the teacher gave them chance to ask the teacher about it, and she wrote the meaning of some unfamiliar words on the white board. Next, the teacher walked around the class to check their answer and to make them felt responsible in finishing their task on time. After that, the teacher led all groups to discuss and to match their answer whether there were different answers or not. Next, the teacher gave the correct answer of the questions based on the material discussion on the white board. To make clear what happens in every meeting, here are the explanation:

1. First Meeting

DayDate : Wednesday, April 13 rd 2016 Topic : Narrative Text a. Opening the Class The teacher greeted them as usual and explained the purpose of today‘s learning. Also, she checked the students‘ absence. b. Main Activities The teacher started the lesson by giving ice breaking to warming up the students to make them focus and relax when learning. After that, the teacher tell the students that they still learn about reading comprehension with narrative text but with different text, because they still have not get the best result previous meeting. Then, The teacher asked the students to sit with their group which is divided in previous meeting. After that, the teacher gave them a text each group with different story about narrative text, then the teacher explain the students about the task. After that, the teacher ask them to read and write down the difficult vocabulary in the text, and then every group should write in the white boar and discuss together with other students and with the teacher. c. Closure The teacher opened questions and answer session for students who have not been understood related to the material, and gave some advice and information about what will be learn for the next meeting.

2. Second Meeting

DayDate : Friday, April 15 th 2016 Topic : Narrative Text a. Opening the Class In the beginning, the teacher greeted and asked about the absence in the class. Also delivered the learning objectives and brief explanation about the material. b. Main Activity The teacher looks around about situation in the class, after she thought the class was quite silent, she will begin start the lesson. Actually the second meeting is continued from the first meeting. The teacher asked the students to sit with their group which is divided in previous meeting. After that, the teacher gave them a text each group with different story about narrative text, then the teacher explain the students about the task, and asked the students to do the exercise with their group and write down in paper. After the students finish their task, the teacher asked them to collect their task and they presented the task in front of the class each group. d. Closure The teacher ask the students to write down the reflecting paper about their difficulties when doing the task in group.

3. Third Meeting

DayDate : Friday, April 20 th 2016 Topic : Narrative Text a. Opening the Class The teacher greeted to the students and looked around the class to make sure that the students were ready to receive the material. Then, the learning objectives were given to empower the importance of the material in English. b. Main Activities The teacher first gave a brief ice breaking to the students. She realized that the low motivation of students that have shown in the preliminary study had to change because it would have made the students became uninterested and bored. Then, she reviewed the previous meeting about grouping task and remembering the students that they will continue their presentation and to discuss together. After the activity finish, the teacher ask them to back to their seat and ask them to safe their book and the teacher start to give them a post- test, which is consist of 20 multiple choices. c. Closure In the end, the teacher asked the students about how they felt after learning reading comprehension with groups. Moreover, she gave courage to the students who could not be active in the class. The last was a short summary from the teacher about the material that they had already learned.

c. Observing Phase

In the second cycle, the observer told that the class condition in learning process was better that the first cycle. It could be seen from the students who were able to focus and to pay attention on the teacher explanation and most of them were enthusiastic to answer the questions given by the teacher based on the text. In doing task with their group, they felt fun and enjoy because they could share about text each other within their group. It could make them easily to comprehend the text and to discuss the schematic structure cooperatively. Then, they were actively to participate within their group. Related to the teacher‘s performance, she showed some progresses in teaching reading narrative text. It could be seen that students did not walk around the class, disturb their friends, and chat each other because the teacher gave them warning before teaching learning process was begun. Then, the teacher gave her attention to all groups and asked them about their difficulties in doing the task. Automatically, students were helped by the teacher to comprehend the text. Next, students did not give up when they found unfamiliar words because they could look up in their dictionary and look at the white board which was written the meaning of some unfamiliar words based on their request. Shortly, most students seemed quite active in the classroom and in doing reading exercises. d. Reflecting Phase

The reflection of Classroom Action research CAR, the writer, and the teacher felt satisfied because they could improve students‘ reading comprehension of Narrative text. The students could understand the passage easily. It could be seen that the result of students‘ score improved from the pre action. Based on the result of the cycle 2, the mean score of the class in reading test is 79,05 or 80 in 47 Ibid., pp. 112 —113.
