3.3 Data Analysis Procedures

In collecting the data, the writer observed the English novel and its translation in Indonesian and documented them as the data. The data were the English sentences that contain collocations in it. Along with the English text, the Indonesian translation text was also observed in order to compare it with the source text. There are some steps in collecting the data, those are: 1 Observing Read the novel both the English and Indonesian versions. Then skimmed through both texts and mark the sentences with collocations found in the texts randomly for each chapter of the novel. 2 Documenting Typed the English sentences contain of collocations along with the Indonesian translation. The pairing of the sentences was set with the English sentences on top and the Indonesian texts below. 3 Identifying the collocations Identified which part of the sentences that deals with collocation.
