40 information they share better, as also suggested by van Manen 1990 that it may
serve as a resource for developing a richer and deeper understanding of human phenomenon.
3. Data Gathering Instruments
The first was document check. It was conducted in order to determine the participants and to see the particip
ants‘ action during the lesson. The second was classroom observation. It was conducted in order to help me
determine the three participants and know what was actually going on in the classroom including
the participants‘ action in studying English. The third was conducting the interview. The researcher found out the story of their English
learning first, and then the researcher also confirmed their action during the English lesson. The main text was obtained from in-depth interview to three
students who were from low family financial capacity. The interview was conducted in order to get the information about their English learning experience.
As additional information, the interview was conducted and recorded using bahasa Indonesia
. Later the audio-visual records were transcribed into Indonesian text manually before translated into English.
It was also supported by short interview with the English teacher as the triangulation. The short interview to the English teacher was also conducted in
order to get information about their experience in teaching low family financial capacity learners. The short interview was also conducted in bahasa Indonesia.

4. Data Gathering Procedure
This research is a phenomenology research. It concentrates on lived experience of learners from low financial capacity. The data will be taken through
in-depth interview, observation and document checking of learners from low financial capacity. How does the researcher know that shehe is a learner from low
financial capacity?
First of all in October 25, 2013 the researcher asked permission to the headmaster and the teacher of SMK Putratama Bantul to do a research towards
some students of the tenth level who come from low financial capacity in purpose to know how they learn English. Then, the researcher discusses the procedures of
conducting the research at the school and time implementation. Second, the researcher will interview them deeply on how they learn
English. What is their motivation in learning English? How far is their acquisition in English learning? Do they have high awareness in learning English? Are there
any adequate facilities to support them to study? How they arrange their study time? What about their score in English subject? Are they diligent to study before
a test? Are they diligent enough to do their homework? And many others included in non academic questions at school to gain the data on how they learn English
outside the school, and furthermore, the researcher will do some observations during a teaching learning process in a class to make sure that the result of the
interview is valid. The researcher also records the interviews to have complete information.
The researcher takes notes and writes down everything that are attracted my attention during the observation. Then the researcher starts to describe the result
42 of the interviews and observation in narratives. The researcher interprets the text
to find the meaning. Before that, the researcher selects the themes that have pedagogical values to interpret. The last step is to draw conclusions, make some
suggestions and closing remark.
