From the conversation, the researcher finds that Apri still depends on other people to learn English. In
this situation Apri‘s awareness is considered to be not good enough.
Similar to the first and the second participant‘s interview, it is also
revealed that Apri learns English from lyrics and movies by trying to translate several words using dictionaries. The conversation is as follow.
R: If you find new words from lyrics or movies in English have you ever
searched for the meanings?
S3: Yes, I have. R: How you do it?

In this situation, the researcher finds that Apri is also aware of self-learning through English lyrics or movies.
Apri ‘s effort to autonomously learn English is also reflected when he
admits that he will ask his teacher first and then friends if he encounters any difficulties in English. The conversation is below.

From Apri‘s interview result, the researcher can conclude that he has adequate awareness to learn by himself since he often does his homework at
home. Meanwhile, Apri also admitted that he wants to learn English outside the school, but he still has problem on finding good partners in studying and speaking
English. In addition, he is also managed to conduct self-learning through movies and lyrics out of the school hour using dictionaries.
d. Summary
Tiwi‘s interview result shows the lack of awareness which can be indicated from her lack of preparation on the upcoming lessons, her willingness to
do homeworks at home, and her seldomness in learning English outside the school time and environment.
In Rizka‘s case, Rizka is having lack on her preparation on the upcoming lessons since she admitted that although she read the materials at home she will
still have difficulties on understand them. In addition to that Rizka also seldom learns English outside the school time and environment which indicates the lack
of awareness. Meanwhile, Rizka is aware enough toward her homework. In Apri‘s
case, the lack of awareness can be indicated from his seldomness in preparing upcoming lessons and the lack of learning English outside the school time and
environment. Similar with Rizka, Apri has good awareness to deal with his homework.
92 In addition to that, the researcher finds that Tiwi, Rizka and Apri can
manage to conduct self-learning through movies and lyrics outside of the school hour. It shows that they all have awareness to learn by themselves using fun and
interesting media.
5. The Participants’ Lived Experiences on Learning Interaction
Through interaction and real-life experience such as dialogues and discussions, learners can have almost everything needed to learn communicative
language. As stated by Marzano 1998, active verbal interaction drives learners to understand language deeper than just become passive during learning process. In
this part, the researcher is looking to find out how the participants establish their interactional activity during the English learning process.
a. Tiwi
The researcher firstly asked Tiwi if she often speaks using English with her friends inside and outside the class. Tiwi answered that she seldom speaks
using English anywhere. We can see the conversation below.

Tiwi also said that she only speaks with teacher to clarify something or check answers. She added that she usually does that by sending SMS short
