The other reason why using qualitative research is based on the objective of  the  study  that  this  research  is  done  to  know  how  far  the  effect  of  marketing
management  toward  the  students’  interest  to  join  an  English  course;  to  identify how  does  marketing  management  able  to  attract  the  students  interest  to  join  an
English course. In this research, the researcher tried to describe detail all of what goes on in the process of marketing management activities related to the students’
interest to join an English course.
B. Time and Place of the Research
The  place  of  the  research  refers  to  the  setting  of  where  the  research conducted,  and  the  time  of  the  research  related  to the  duration  needed  to  do the
research. This research carried out at Lembaga Bahasa dan Pendidikan Profesional LBPP  LIA  Surakarta.  This  course  is  located  on  Jl.  Bhayangkara  No.  10
Surakarta, Central Java 57154.  It conducted on Pebruari to May 2009.
C. Source of the Data
According to Lofland as quoted by Moleong 2004: 112 sources of data in qualitative  research  are  words  and  events,  for  the  additional  data  can  be
documents or others. The research data in this study are collected in the  form of information  about  the  marketing  management  and  the  relation  to  the  students’
interest  to  join  an  English  course.  To  carry  out  the  research,  the  researcher collected the data related to the marketing management in relation to the students;

interest to join  LBPP  LIA  Surakarta. The data took from three kinds of sources, those was:
1.  The events. It was the process of students’ registrar of LBPP LIA, the services of the receptionist, and the marketing’ activities.
2.  Documents. Document is a paper that given information, proof, or support of some  thing.  Thus  documentation  is  technique  in  collecting  the  data  by  using
the document the written things from which the researcher gets the data. Based on Suharsimi 1998: 236. Documents are about the written information based
on the study of  marketing  management  in relation to the students;  interest to join LBPP LIA Surakarta. The documents used as the sources in this research
were  brochure  of  LBPP  LIA,  brochure  of  STBA  LIA,  pamphlet  of  research colloquium  LIA,  pamphlet  walk  the  talk  trans7,  pamphlet  STBA  LIA,  time
table  of  trainers,  students’  progress  report,  time  table  of  the  course,  staffs’ data, the total students’ number, scholarships’ data, internet data, and banner.
3.  Informants.  The  research  took  the  secretary,  academic  operational  officer, students of LBPP LIA as the key informants to be interviewed.
