The Reliability of Instrument

CHAPTER IV FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION

This chapter presents the result of research. In this case, it discusses the way to investigate the effect of Directed Reading Thinking Activity and reading interest on students‟ Reading Comprehension at 8 th grade students of MTs Jamiyyah Islamiyyah academic year 20142015. It covers the data description, the prerequisite test for data analysis, the testing hypotheses, and the discussion of research findings.

1. The Data Description

In this study, there are three variables: teaching method, reading interest, and reading comprehension. Teaching method A and reading interest B as independent variables then reading comprehension Y as dependent variable. Data was obtained by giving test to know students‟ reading comprehension and distributing questionnaire to gain data of students‟ reading interest. Descriptive analysis of the data performed to determine the range of the data, the average, median, mode, and standard deviation. This data was taken from the post test result of students in each group. A statistical description of calculation and test performed through SPSS 20.00 as well as analysis and interpretation shown in the following table. Each of the correct answer will be graded 1 and the incorrect answer will be graded 0. Hence the maximum score will be 30, while minimum score will be 0. Respondents for experimental group were 40 students, treated by using DRTA method. The empiric score stated that the highest score was 93, the lowest score was 70. Furthermore, mean
