Note: A1 : Groups of students who are taught by Directed Reading Thinking Activity method A2 : Groups of students who are taught by conventional method B1 : Groups of students who have high reading interest B2 : Groups of students who have low reading interest A1B1 : DRTA method with high reading interest A2B1 : Conventional method with high reading interest A1B2 : DRTA method with low reading interest A2B2 : Conventional method with low reading interest Here are the data descriptions of reading comprehension in each group. 1. Score of Reading Comprehension by Using DRTA Method A1. Table 4.2 Frequency Table of Reading Comprehension by Using DRTA Method Frequency Percent Valid Percent Cumulative Percent Valid 70 3 7.5 7.5 7.5 73 14 35.0 35.0 42.5 76 13 32.5 32.5 75.0 80 5 12.5 12.5 87.5 83 2 5.0 5.0 92.5 87 2 5.0 5.0 97.5 93 1 2.5 2.5 100.0 Total 40 100.0 100.0 Scoring the data related to reading comprehension was conducted by using instrument with the objective test multiple choices and the total items provided were 30 questions valid. Each of the correct answer will be graded 1 and the incorrect answer will be graded 0. Hence the maximum score will be 30, while minimum score will be 0. Respondents for experimental group were 40 students, treated by using DRTA method. The empiric score stated that the highest score was 93, the lowest score was 70. Furthermore, mean was 76.33, median was 75.22, mode was 73, standard of deviation was 4,906 and variance was 24.701. The complete result gained from calculation can be seen below. The mean 76.33 indicated that the average score for the students was relatively good. The standard of deviation 4.906 indicated that the answers given by students using the DRTA method are relatively the same. To make it clear, it can be seen in the display of histogram and polygon presented below: 2. Score of Reading Comprehension by Using Conventional Method A2. Table 4.3 Frequency Table of Reading Comprehension by Using Conventional Method Frequency Percent Valid Percent Cumulative Percent Valid 63 2 5.0 5.0 5.0 67 2 5.0 5.0 10.0 70 7 17.5 17.5 27.5 73 14 35.0 35.0 62.5 76 4 10.0 10.0 72.5 80 7 17.5 17.5 90.0 83 4 10.0 10.0 100.0 Total 40 100.0 100.0 Scoring the data for reading comprehension was done by using instrument with objective test multiple choice tests and the total items provided are 30 questions. For each question, the correct answer will be graded 1 and the incorrect answer will be graded 0. Hence, the maximum score will be 30, while minimum score will be 0. Respondents for experimental group are 40 students, treated by using Conventional method. The empiric score stated that the highest score was 83, the lowest score was 63. Furthermore, mean is 74.20, median was 73.67, mode is 73, standard of deviation was 5.205 and variance was 27.087. The complete result gained from calculation can be seen below. The mean 74.20 indicated that the average score for the students was relatively good. The standard of deviation 5.205 indicated that the answers given by students using the Conventional method are relatively the same. To make it clear, we can see the display of histogram and polygon presented below:
