3. The Teaching Learning Activities
The teaching strategies based on Reflective Pedagogy for integrated reading and writing for grade X students of SMA Negeri 11 Yogyakarta was
designed for one semester. It consisted of 8 units. Each unit had one basic competency to discuss. Although this design was for integrated reading and
writing, the teaching strategies and the materials which were developed in this study also integrated other skills such as listening and speaking. This happened
since those four language skills were in correlation with each other. In fact, those skills were related and supported each other. However, the focus on this design
was still for the reading and writing skills.
Each unit consisted of 5 steps based on Reflective Pedagogy; CONTEXT, EXPERIENCE, REFLECTION, ACTION and EVALUATION which were
followed by the teaching strategies and the activities. The activities in this material would be developed based on each step in Reflective Pedagogy. The
main activity in the first step, Context of Learning was the students would be given the context of the topic that would be discussed so that they were ready to
begin the lesson. In Experience step, the main activity was the students read the reading text based on the topic and followed by answering the comprehension
questions. In Reflection step, the students would grasp the essential values or messages by discussing a topic. Then, in Action step, the students would be asked
to produce their own text based on the topic that they have discussed. In the last step, Evaluation, not only the teacher who would do evaluation but the students
also would evaluate themselves about their strength and difficulties in learning a topic. The activities used in the designed would be discussed as follows:
