4. Categorizing the code-switchings into their type: inter-sentential and

intra-sentential, and into their reason: status, topic and affective message In order to seek the answer of the first question, the researcher categorized the code-switchings into their own type. She put a  in the E column if the code-switching occurred across sentence boundaries and in the A column if the code-switching occurred inside sentences. The following is a sample checklist of the code-switching types. They were because of the status, the topic, or showing affective message. The researcher then categorized the code-switchings based on the reasons of occurance. She put a  in the S column if the code-switching was done because of the status of the speaker, in the T column if the code-switching was done because of the topic of the utterances, in the A column if the code-switching was done to show affective message. 5. Analysing the data

After the researcher classified each code- switching occured in the juries’ speech, she then elaborated why some particular code-switching was categorized as inter-sentential or intra-sentential and status, topic or affective message with purpose to present clear elaboration of the categorization done.
