4.2 Erosion in Ayung Watershed
Results of analysis of DEM map using ArcSWAT show Ayung watershed with an area of 27 446,68 ha,
the number of sub-watershed as much as 29, with the position of the outlets are at the beach of Padanggalak.
Size Sub-watershed, erosion magnitude for each sub- watershed is presented in Table 4.1.
Based on the analysis of 29 sub-watersheds, the sub-watershed that impact of damage sub- watershed is
located in the upper watersheds, namely, sub- watershed numbers: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11 , 12, 13, 14, 16, and
17 sub- watershed of Bangkumg river, Ayung river, Bunutin river, Mengani river, Kilap river, Sidan river,
and Carangsari river with an area of 16410.70 ha 59.79.
As described earlier, improving efforts to reduce erosion can be done by increasing the soil cover with
intercropping or alley farming and strengthening the terrace. Strengthening gulud terrace with patio booster
plant elephant grass, lemon grass and other plants, because of the rain that fell can be retained by the patio
because the amplifier patio plants. Water was given the opportunity to infiltrated, reduce runoff and erosion, so
that environmental damage can be prevented.
Shrub land on steep slopes should be forest with woody plants that have many roots and the like albizia
plants, bamboo, kluwek and so on. Plants that can be grown in the research location, as catchment areas to
reduce environmental damage but have economic value so as to increase farmers income.
