For future researcher, the writer has some suggestions regarding the aspects that can be analyzed and studied deeply in this study based on the subject.
Then Came Heaven has a spiritual aspect. Sister Regina is a nun that lives in
the religious community. It is obvious that she is a religious woman. Her life is to serve God. The writer finds that the novel is interesting to be analyzed for religious
person has a different point of view in seeing life. Therefore, the writer suggests future researchers to have more analysis on the spiritual aspect of Sister Regina. It
is how a spiritual aspect may influence people’s life in facing problems. This novel is about character’s development that can be seen in Sister
Regina’s character. Therefore, the writer suggests using psychological approach as the main approach to analyze the character changing of Sister Regina. This
approach is considered to be appropriate because it deals with human’s mind and faith.
5.2.2 Suggestions for Teaching Speaking
Literature is very interesting to be learnt. A literary work such as novel does not only give us an enjoyment, but also a moral value implied in the novel. Readers
can easily get the value of a novel since it is the reflection of human relationships in a real world. More than that, literature can also be used in teaching learning
activities. English literature can be used to improve students’ mastery in English by
using it as the material of teaching learning process. Susan L. Stern in her Expanded Dimension to Literature in ESLEFL: An Integrated Approach
proposes that the language acquisition can be achieved through practicing the language using literary
work 1987. This work can be used to achieve the goal of teaching. Meanwhile, Duff and Maley in their book Resource Book for Teacher: Literature state that in
the terms of language, literature, or literary texts serves a source that gives genuine samples of very wide range of styles, registers, and text-types at many levels of
difficulties 1990: 6. Considering the statements above, English literature provides many supports to the teaching learning process. Literature is one of the important
teaching learning media to improve student’s skills in speaking, writing, reading, and listening. Moreover, by using literature texts, students can learn about grammar
and enrich their vocabulary. Then Came Heaven
presents several interesting topics that are useful as materials to teach English language. It is more to teach speaking. The basic goals of
speaking class that should be achieved by students are confidence, fluency, and skills in expressing idea. Here, the topic to teach speaking is about agreement and
disagreement in the form of debate. The students may develop the topic based on their opinion.
