Let’s Begin Let’s Practice

56 three sections namely Let’s Begin, Let’s Practice and Let’s Finish the Lesson except for the review as the last topic which consists only one section, Let’s Practice.. The three sections were chosen as the implementation of the Task-Based Learning framework for beginners and young learners in which Let’s Begin is the pre-task, Let’s Practice is the task-cycle and Let’s Finish the Lesson is the language focus. The further explanation would be described as follows:

a. Let’s Begin

The purpose of this section is to introduce and to give explanation about the topics and the vocabulary used to the students. This section included activities which attract students’ attention to enter the lesson. The activities such as singing songs, identifying pictures, asking some questions which activate students’ knowledge related to the topics are used to create a relaxed atmosphere in the teaching-learning process. This section is dominated by a lot of teacher’s explanation. The teacher’s explanation is to give the students knowledge about the topics especially about the vocabulary used and how to pronounce the words relate to the topics.

b. Let’s Practice

This section is the core of the materials which consisted of various tasks. Almost all of the tasks in this section are done in the group except for the topic about family and review. The group work is chosen because the subjects of the designed materials are children. Thus, the group works are expected to build the students’ confidence in finishing the task. Moreover, it would be easier for the teacher to manage the class when the students work in a group. 57 The activities in this section are to practice what they have got from the previous section related to the vocabulary given. The writer also uses cartoon movie from Magic English for five topics in the designed materials, the topics are: greetings, numbers, colors, animals and parts of face. The use of video is to attract students’ attention. It also gives the students new experience in learning English.

c. Let’s Finish the Lesson
