CHAPTER IV RESEARCH FINDINGS

This chapter presents the findings of the research which answer the questions in the chapter I in the research formulation of the problems. It is how picture series are developed. The findings are discussed in these five following sections.

A. Research Development of the Media

To develop the products, the researcher followed the RD procedure proposed by Borg and Gall 1983. The procedure has been explained in chapter III. Meanwhile, this part shows the findings of the research found before the try- out of the products. The findings which cover the needs analysis results, the course grid and lesson plan write, the media designing, production, assessment, and revision are discussed below.

1. A Needs Analysis

A needs analysis was conducted before the media were developed. The analysis aimed to find out what kind of media fits students‟ characteristics and covers their needs. The instruments used for the needs analysis were a class observation guideline, an interview guideline, and a questionnaire. There were some questions developed based on the blueprint which had been made before. The blueprint made based on some experts‟ theories can be seen in the following tables. 55
