4. Data Analysis Technique

The data collected from the class observation, the interview, and the questionnaires were used as the basis for developing listening media and measuring the feasibility of the media. Those data were divided into two categories. These are the explanations:

a. The qualitative data

The data gained from the class observation and the interview with the English teacher and the students of SD IT Insan cendekia were categorized as the qualitative data. The data got from the observation was about the teaching and learning process. From the interview, the information about the students‟ attitude towards English, the teaching and learning activities, and the teacher‟s and the 52 students‟ needs were obtained. The results were in the form of interview transcripts.

b. The quantitative data

To get the quantitative data, the questionnaires were distributed to the respondents. They were the English Education Department students of Yogyakarta State University, the English teacher, and the fifth grade students of SD IT Insan Cendekia . The questionnaires consisted of respondents‟ opinions in the form of scores. Furthermore, to analyze the scores, the researcher used Likert Scale. The analysis were presented in a statistic table and described in sentences. The result of that analysis was used as the basis to determine whether or not the media should be revised. In deep, the analysis was explained in the following paragraphs. First, there were scores to measure the respondent‟s opinions based on their choices on the questionnaires. Here are the scores: 1 = SD, if the respondents strongly disagree with the statement 2 = D, if the respondents disagree with the statement 3 = A, if the respondents agree with the statement 4 = SA, if the respondents strongly agree with the statement Then, the scores obtained from the distributed questionnaires were calculated using the following formula. =
