1. Research and Information Collecting
In this first step, the writer conducted needs survey by distributing questionnaire and conducted interview. In order to obtain the data of the students’
needs, the writer conducted interview and distributed the questionnaire. The interview was for the eleventh grade English teacher of SMK N I Kalasan and the
questionnaire was for the eleventh grade students of SMK N I Kalasan. The detail information of these two results is presented below.

the class by sharing the experiences, giving new vocabularies, pictures, and texts. The teacher said that she evaluated the students by giving written test, group
work, presentation, and students being active in the class activities .
The teacher stated that integrated materials were main materials that could refer to four skills. Integrated materials were effective because these could help
the students to master the English skills. The teacher also stated that each student could not learn one skill only because their English would be needed to do the
Industrial Practice. The teacher said that Communicative Language Teaching was an appropriate method to support the students’ English development as a hotel
staff candidate. The method gave the students lots of opportunity to develop their English by role play, discussion, and games. The teacher also said that as a hotel
staff candidate the students should speak English properly and also they have to master the other skills listening, reading, and writing to attend the Industrial
Practice. In this study, the writer tried to design integrated materials which can help students to succeed in their learning based on Communicative Language
Teaching. The Results of the Interview on the Needs Survey are presented in Appendix C.
