CHAPTER V CONCLUSIONS AND SUGESTIONS
This chapter consists of two parts. The first part is for the conclusion of this study. The second part provides suggestions for the English instructors who
would apply the designed materials and also for other researchers who would like to conduct the same type of research.
A. Conclusions
This study aimed to design a set of integrated English materials for grade eleventh students of Hotel Accommodation Department of SMK N I Kalasan.
There were two problems in this study. Those problems were 1 how are a set of integrated English materials for grade eleventh students of Hotel Accommodation
Department of SMK N I Kalasan designed? and 2 what does the designed set of integrated English materials for grade eleventh students of Hotel Accommodation
Department of SMK N I Kalasan look like? In the study, the writer employed Research and Development R D
method. R D which consists of ten steps, but the writer only employed step 1 up to step 5. Those steps are 1 research and information collecting, 2 planning, 3
develop preliminary form of product, 4 preliminary field-testing, and 5 main product revision.
In order to answer the first problem, the writer adapted Kemp’s and Yalden’s instructional model. The writer adapted these two models to design the

materials because the combination reveals a clear and complete step in designing the materials. Those steps are 1 conducting needs survey, 2 formulating goals,
topics, and general purposes, 3 formulating learning objectives, 4 selecting learning activities and resources, 5 designing the instructional materials, 6
evaluation, and 7 revision. Furthermore, the instructional design model applied in the study was appropriate with R D method employed by the writer.
The R D method is elaborated in the instructional design model. The first step, research and information collecting is elaborated in conducting need
survey. The second step, planning is elaborated in formulating goals, topics, and general purposes, formulating learning objectives and selecting teaching learning
activities and materials. The third step, develop preliminary form of product is elaborated in designing the instructional materials. The fourth step, preliminary
field testing is elaborated in evaluation. The fifth step, main product revision is elaborated in revision.
To complete the designed materials the writer conducted post-design survey by distributing questionnaires to two English lecturers and two English
teachers. These questionnaires were intended to obtain evaluation concerning the existing materials. The survey study revealed that the designed materials were
appropriate and acceptable. This could be seen from the central tendency in the descriptive statistics in which the means was 4.5 in five points scale of agreement.
To answer the second question, the writer presents the final version of the set of integrated English materials for grade eleven students of Hotel
Accommodation Department of SMK N I Kalasan. The designed materials contain
