CHAPTER V CONCLUSIONS AND SUGGESTIONS

This chapter discusses about the conclusions and suggestions of the design. There will be two parts, they are conclusions and the second part is suggestions In the conclusions part the writer summarizes the answers to the questions in the study. The two questions of the study are how a set of web-based English vocabulary supplementary materials for the first grade students of Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri 9 Yogyakarta is designed and what a set of web-based English vocabulary supplementary materials for the first grade students of Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri 9 Yogyakarta looks like. Then the writer gives suggestions to teachers and programmers.

A. Conclusions

This part summarizes the answers to the questions in the problem formulation. The answers to the questions are explained below. The first question is how a set of web-based English vocabulary supplementary materials for the first grade students of Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri 9 Yogyakarta is designed. The writer answers the question by using the six steps adapted from Kemp and Research and Development R D. There are six steps adapted from Kemp that are being used in the study to answer the first problem regarding the process of designing. The six steps adapted 82 PLAGIAT MERUPAKAN TINDAKAN TIDAK TERPUJI are 1 Identifying learners’ Characteristics to provide information in order to design the materials, 2 Formulating goal, topics, and general purposes that need to be fulfilled in order to achieve the purposes, 3 Specifying learning objectives which are going to be achieved by the students using the design, 4 Listing subject content in order to make an effective design which based on the objectives, 5 Selecting teaching and learning activities and resources which will determine the materials in the design, it is also to make sure that the design will develop students’ vocabulary, and 6 Evaluating-Preliminary field testing of the design to gather suggestions and recommendation. This is done through post-design research. The result of the post-design research showed that the single mean of the whole data was 4. The result indicated that the design was acceptable. The writer also received some comments and suggestions from the questionnaire. Further explanation about the result of the study survey can be seen on part D discussion. To answer the second question, the writer presents the design units in form of a compact disc CD along with the autorun.inf, autorun.exe, autorun.bat, and index. Ico. This is done to make the design run automatically when the compact disc is inserted. So it will be easier for teachers and students whenever they want to use the design.

B. Suggestions 1. For English Teachers
