Discussion RESEARCH RESULT AND DISCUSSION

The first comment was that single word translation is not an interesting and effective way to teach vocabulary. The comment was given after the respondent did the exercise in Vocabulary Focus part. In the Vocabulary Focus the students were given two 2 Single word translation, one is using Indonesian equivalent and the other is using English equivalent. The single word translation was chosen by the writer on the basis of the theory underlying the vocabulary teaching. In the principle of vocabulary teaching and learning, Nunan says that vocabulary needs to be taught and learned in the most appropriate way. In this part the writer aimed at helping the students to remember the words and making them familiar to the words that will be used in the exercise. It is also supported by the use of Indonesian equivalent; the Indonesian equivalent was used in the first exercise, to make the exercise easier for the students. The second comment was that the listening activity is too long for the grade X students. The writer disagree with the comment because providing the design with the appropriate recording was something difficult since the recordings provided on the internet were difficult to find especially the recordings with clear pronunciation. In the suggestion part, the respondent suggested that the writer should check the answers in the exercise. The respondent said that the answers were not in the exercise, meaning that the words provided did not have the answers. The writer found that the exercise indeed had the answers to the questions; it was just that the students have to understand the topic of the exercise before doing the 79 PLAGIAT MERUPAKAN TINDAKAN TIDAK TERPUJI exercises. The students need to pay attention to topic since the vocabulary used in the exercise will have different meaning for certain topics. The suggestion to use more interesting colors in the design was something important since it dealt with the objectives of the study. Based on the suggestion, the writer made some changes on colors of the Vocabulary Focus part. The design itself was not changed; the arrangement was still the same. There were still eight 8 units which were divided into Preparation, Vocabulary Focus, Learning from Input and Output, and Reflection. The writer only made small changes in the index page. The objective of the design in the index page was moved into an independent table and no longer be part of the Introduction. This was done to highlight the objective of the website so learners or users would pay attention to it. The writer also made some changes on the color. After receiving the suggestion from the respondents, the writer decided to change the color of the Preparation in subject content. The previous colors were 8080FF for the cell of part of speech and for the vocabulary cell F550E9 for the first cell, FFFF00 for the second cell, 00CCFF for the third cell, and FF990 for the fourth cell, the writer changed the color properties into 0099FF for the part of speech cell and FFCC33 for the first and third cell and FF9933 for the second and fourth cell of the vocabulary cell. The reason was to make the exercise page more interesting and eye catching. The comments and suggestions from the respondents gathered from the questionnaire were the most important part of the survey study since it provided 80 PLAGIAT MERUPAKAN TINDAKAN TIDAK TERPUJI the writer with important input to revise and improve the design of the vocabulary materials.
