A. Standard of Competence

12. To express the meaning of short simple functional writtent texts and essays in the form of recount and narrative to interact with the surrounding environment.

B. Basic Competency

12.2 To express the meaning and steps of rhetoric in the short simple essay by using written language accurately, properly and acceptable to interact with the surrounding environment in the form of recount and narrative.

C. Indicators

Students are able to:  Identify the social function of recount texts.  Identify the generic structure of recount texts.  Identify the language features of recount texts.  Recognize the peer response technique in writing process.  Write a draft of recount text in group.

D. Learning Objective

At the end of the lesson, the students are able to write a draft of recount text in form of re-arranging jumbled sentences become a good recount text in group.

E. Learning Materials

 A recount text entitled Meeting a Star.  An explanation of the social function, generic structures and language features of recount text. A recount is a piece of text that retells past events, usually in the order in which they happened. The purpose of a recount text is to give the audience a description of what occurred and when it occurred. The generic structure of recount text are: 1. Orientation: inform the backgrounf information about who what, when and where. 2. Sequence of events: It retells events: what people do? It tells the events chronologically. It uses conjunctions or connectives like: first, next, then, finally, and so on. They show list of events. 3. Reorientation: state the w riter’s personal comment regarding the events described. The language features of recount text are: 1. The use of past tense 2. The use of conjunctions and time connectives to sequence the events 3. The use of adverbs and adverbial phrases to indicate time e.g. last week, ago.
