contains of routines and pattern or chunks. Furthermore, students’ comprehension is used for communicative activity; that is for asking and giving information
among other students in the class.
d. Let’s Sum It Up
Let’s Sum It Up is a post-activity section. In this part, the students sum
up what they have learnt from pre-speech stage pre-activity section until expanding production stage whilst activity section. This part acquires the students
to summarize the materials they have learnt by mentioning the topic learnt, mentioning vocabularies learnt, and producing target language through simple
presentation as well as answer and question activity.
5. Selecting Teaching-Learning Activities and Resources
Since the designed materials were based on the principle of the Natural Approach, the activities proposed in the designed materials used a series of
acquisition activities applied in the Natural Approach. The activities were done through dialogs, interviews, games, restructuring, one-centered, unified group,
dyads, small group, and large group. In the dialog activities, the students produce short sentences and utterances
which contain a number of routines and patterns which can be easily assimilated. Interviews activities require the students to supply a single word or short phrase in
a form by obtaining the desired information from other students. As the principle of the Natural Approach, the game activities, in the materials, are designed to give
comprehensible input. Restructuring is an acquisition activity which requires the

students to move about the classroom and interact with each other. One-centered activities are concentrated on a single volunteer but involve the entire class.
Unified group is an activity that requires all members of the group participate for the activity to be successful. Dyad activity involves the students working in pairs.
Small group activity involved some students in accomplishing an activity such as information gathering activities. Meanwhile, large group activity involves larger
groups or the class as a whole.
6. Evaluating the Designed Materials
The last step conducted in this study was evaluating the design materials. The writer distributed the material evaluation questionnaire to the participants of
post-design survey. The participants were the English teacher of SD Negeri II Sumberejo and lectures of the English Language Education Study Program of
Sanata Dharma University. The participants were expected to evaluate and give their feedback in the form of opinions, comments and suggestions on the design
materials. Afterwards, the writer made some revisions based on the evaluation and feedback proposed by the participants to make the final version of the designed
materials.
B. Findings and Discussions on the Designed Materials Evaluation
After analyzing the result of the need survey, the writer developed the preliminary form of the designed material. However, the writer realized that the
designed material needed some revisions and improvements to make it better.
