facilitate students’ learning style in each topic. The learning activities were designed to stimulate students’ motivation to learn with ease, to help them exploring and experiencing themselves in learning English. Hence, the learning materials could help the students to learn English comfortably and develop their English, especially vocabulary.

2. Considering Goals, Topics, and General Purposes

In this study, the writer adapted the School Based Curriculum as usually known as 2006 Curriculum or Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan KTSP. The Competence Standards which was modified from 2006 Curriculum was considered as goal of the instructional material. In determining the goal of the instructional material, the writer adapted the competence standard for the speaking skill in School Based Curriculum and combined it with the principle of the Natural Approach. The speaking skill was chosen because the consideration of the Natural Approach principle which sees communication as the primary function of language. Considering that reason, the writer determined the goal of the instructional materials of English vocabulary based on the Natural Approach for fourth grade students of SD Negeri II Sumberejo was “to express meaning and very simple spoken language in the context of daily life.” After determining the goal or competence standard, the writer specified the general purposes which were stated as Basic Competency in 2006 curriculum. The general purposes were specified base on the goals and stated based on the topics in each unit.
