1. Participants of Pre-design Survey
The first group played role as the participants in gathering data on need analysis which consisted of the fourth grade students of SD Negeri II Sumberejo
and the English teacher who took charge of the class. The students of fourth grade were chosen because the English subject as local content in Elementary School
curriculum was started and taught in the fourth grade. Therefore, the students in this grade were more familiar with English and had more experiences in learning
English compared to those of third grade or less. Meanwhile, the English teacher was selected based on the consideration that the teacher directly interacted with
the students in the teaching-learning process as well personally approach. Therefore, the teacher would have known the students’ need, the students’
interest, and the students’ want. As mentioned before, the participants in this group had a role as the participant to gather data on need analysis which was
obtained to design the preliminary form of designed material.
2. Participants of Post-design Survey
The second group participants were called evaluator participants which consisted of the lecturers of the English Language Study Program
and the English teacher who took charge of the class observed. The participants were selected to
evaluate and give feedback on the instructional material design model. The selected participants were based on certain consideration that they mastered the
instructional design development, mastered the theory of the Natural Approach, and could give an objective opinions and assessment to develop the designed

materials. The description of the participants who evaluate the designed materials was presented in table 3.1.
