It happened because the translated term of the word driver was inappropriate with the meaning of the word driver itself. The researcher also found some English terms which could be translated to Indonesian terms, but it was rarely used or it was more popular than Indonesian terms. They were download, cloud computing, loading, mobile, smartphone and update. The writers of the articles tended to use English terms rather than Indonesian terms, because the Indonesian terms were not as popular as English terms. The writers of the articles tended to use word download rather than mengunduh, because in computer topic the word mengunduh was not popular. They also tended to use word loading rather than memuat. 2. Showing Solidarity to Build a Good Relation with the Target Readers This reason was proposed by Wardhaugh 1992, Crystal 1987 and Hoffman 1991. According to Crystal 1987, code-switching can also be a way to share solidarity with others. The readers of InfoKomputer magazine were people who were familiar with computer field. The choice of terms which were used in the article had a big role in building good relation and showing solidarity with the target readers. The researcher found that the writers of the article tended to use terms which were technical terms rather than used uncommon terms in computer field. Since InfoKomputer magazine was Indonesian magazine, the writer used Indonesian language as the main language in writing the articles. Meanwhile, mostly of computer terms were in English. The researcher found that the writers 49 of the articles tended to keep using English terms and mixing the English words with Indonesian words in order to build good relation with the target reader. Intra- word code-switching was employed by the writers in this situation. The researcher found a number of cases related to this reason for code-switching. They were men-download, meng-install, hardware-nya, feature-nya, di-recharge, and mem-posting. The writers of the articles tended to use and mix those words rather than translate them.

3. Quoting Somebody

This reason was proposed by Hoffman 1991. In some cases, code- switching was employed when the writers were quoting somebody in order to improve reliability of the news that they write. In this research, the researcher found that the writers of the articles switch the code when they were quoting somebody’s expression, since it was impossible to translate somebody’s expression to other languages.
