3. Quoting Someone Statement.
The third of the reasons for code-switching was quoting someone statement. According to Chloros 2009 states that,
“the use of code switching not only marked the boundary between the qualitative verb and the quote itself. It also gave
speakers another “voice” in which they could encode expressive meanings”. When code witching occurred in quotation sequences, the additional dimension it
can bring to discourse was clear. In this case [15], announcer 1 X1 quoted the lyric of „Breaking even‟ in responding announcer‟s 2 X2 comment of the song to
emphasize the meaning of lyric. He used the original sentences from Samantha Jade‟s lyric without translating the lyric into Indonesian so the listeners would be
easy to get their discussion.

4. Message Qualification
The fourth reason was qualifying message. The radio announcers would like to qualify message in their utterances within the broadcasting in order to deliver
the main point of the message. Grosjean 1982, p. 49 states that the speakers use code switching to catch the addresse
es‟ attention to a part of the message. When
50 switching some Indonesian utterances into English, the radio broadcasters wanted
to underline the message so it would be more understandable. For example the announcer 2 X2 emphasized his message to the listener of
the “Sunset Drive” program about the topic themed during September in Swaragama FM radio. The
themed on September was Color your dream and reach your goal. Goes your life and day. Therefore, the listeners would have better understanding of the main
point of the message which was used by the announcers.

5. Showing Solidarity with a Group
The fifth reason of code switching was showing identity with a group. Holmes 2001, p. 157 says that some people may use other languages when they
speak with particular addressees only to express their solidarity. In this case [18],
there was a guest announcer from India in the “Sunset Drive” program.. Here, the
guest announcer could not speak Indonesian language. Therefore, the announcer switched Indonesian language into English when had interaction with the guest
announcer to express solidarity with her friend who was Indian.

6. Personalization
The sixth possible reason of code switching was personalization. Wardaugh 2010, p. 126 states that, people usually switch their language into certain
language because of their topic under discussion in the conversation. For instance,
the announcer used tagline, prewed and password, which were difficult to find
out the appropriate translation in Bahasa Indonesia. It was more common to use English terms in the terms such as example

Sunset Drive, 18 September 2013 Based on the research result, the researcher proposed six reasons for code
switching which were made by announcers in the “Sunset Drive” program of
Swaragama FM radio. There must be certain reasons for the announcers of the “Sunset Drive” program to switch language whether it was intentionally or not.
Thus, the data findings answered the second research objectives that the reasons of code-switching used were quoting someone statement, message qualification,
personalization, linguistics deficiency, attraction and solidarity with a group.
