covered with tubercle-based hairs. Ligule 1.5 mm long, a fringe of hairs. Blades 20 cm long by 10 mm, linear, tubercle-based hairs on both faces, the margins smooth.
Inflorescence c. 10 cm long, on a stout peduncle usually well-exserted, with tubercle hairs especially below the panicle. Spikelets 2.2 mm long, numerous. Glumes almost
similar. Lower glumes 1.2 mm long, broad, blunt, 5-nerved, nerves anastomosing, clasping the base of the spikelet. Lower glume 9-nerved, nerves anastomosing towards
the tip, boat-shape, acute. Florets: lower floret neuter; lemma 2 mm long, boat- shaped, 7-nerved; palea 1.8 mm long, ovate, transparent, thin, 2-nerved; upper floret
hermaphrodite; lemma 1.3 mm long, boat-shaped, indurated, 7-nerves, the nerves anastomosing, the tip rounded; palea 1.2 mm long, similarly textured. Stamens 3.
Anthers 1 mm long. Stigmata 2. Caryopsis 1.5 mm long, enclosed within the hardened lemma and palea.

erect, or scrambling. Nodes glabrous. Sheaths 6 cm long, tubercle-based hairs, without keels. Ligule less than 0.5 mm long, a ciliolate membrane. Blades 16 cm long by 30
mm long, lanceolate-acuminate, with scattered bulbous-based hairs on both surface, scabrid towards the acute tip, base broad, abruptly cordate from a narrow attachment to
the sheath. Inflorescence c. 30 cm long, a narrow panicle, very slender, with slightly rough spikelet-bearing branchlets above their bases, stalks of spikelets very slender,
terete. Spikelets 2.6 mm long, numerous, ovoid, acute. Glumes similar, reaching apex of florets, thinner than fertile lemma. Lower glume 2.4 mm long, not quite clasping,

Plants perennial, floating, rooting at the nodes. Culms 75 cm long, erect at first afterwards creeping or floating. Nodes glabrous; internodes hollow. Sheaths 7 cm
long, smooth terete, ribbed when dry. Ligule 4 mm long, the base a narrow continuous rim, the rest a fringe of bristles. Blades 21 cm long by 11 mm long, linear-lanceolate,
flat, base rounded, apex acute. Inflorescence 23 cm long, a panicle, glabrous, all branches flattened, scabrid on the margins, primary with well developed cushions in
the axils. Spikelets 3.3 mm long, many, on slender stalks nearly parallel to the axis which bears them, pointed; appressed, solitary. Fertile spikelets pedicelled; pedicels 5-
