Glumes shorter than spikelet, thinner than fertile lemma. Lower glume 1.1-1.4 mm long, ovate, 0.5 times length of spikelet, membraneous, no keels, 3-5-nerved; apex acute. Upper glume ovate, 1.3-1.8 mm long, 0.5 times length of spikelet, membraneous, no keels, 5-nerved; apex acute. Florets: basal sterile florets barren, with palea; lemma ovate, as long as spikelet, membraneous, 5-nerved. Fertile lemma lanceolate, dorsally compressed, 2-2.6 mm long, indurate, no keel; surface rugose; margins involute; apex acute. Palea involute, indurate; surface rugose. Anthers 3. 1.2- 1.6 mm long. Florets: basal sterile florets barren, without significant palea; lemma similar to upper glume, elliptic, 0.8-1 times length of spikelet, membraneous, 5-nerved, distinctly nerved, or without lateral nerves. Fertile lemma elliptic, 2-3 mm long, indurate, no keel; surface rugulose; margins involute; palea reflexed at apex, indurate. Notes Found in Africa, China, Eastern Asia, India, Indo-China, and Malesia. This spesimen was found among a bundle of unlabelled grasses, all identified by Ohwi during the war, at Buitenzorg. It near come from the Philippina, from Celebes or another Eastern Island. Distribution at Sulawesi Maybe Celebes, Philippine, or sorroundings area. Habitat Not recorded.
