Plants perennial, caespitose. Culms 10-45 cm long, slender, wiry, ribbed, geniculately ascending; Internodes ridged. Sheaths 5-8 mm long, glabrescent below, with prominent long bulbous-based hairs above. Ligule a fringe or hairs, or absent. Blades 1.5-2.5 cm by 3-7 mm, margin cartilaginous, ciliate, hairy at base, apex acute, or acuminate. Inflorescence a panicle. Panicle open, ovate, 2-3 cm long; primary branches spreading. Spikelets solitary: fertile spikelets pedicelled; comprising 1 basal sterile florets, 1 fertile floret, without rachilla extension. Spikelets orbicular, dorsally compressed, 1 mm long, breaking up at maturity, disarticulating below each fertile floret. Glumes similar, deciduous, reaching apex of florets, thinner than fertile lemma. Lower glume oblong, 1 mm long, as long as spikelet, membraneous, no keels, 5- nerved; apex obtuse, the surface pubescent. Upper glume oblong, 1 mm long, as long as adjacent fertile lemma, membraneous, without keels, 5-nerved; apex obtuse, the surface pubescent. Florets: basal sterile florets male, with palea, separately deciduous; lemma similar to fertile lemma, 1 mm long, ovate, coriaceous. Fertile florets female; lemma orbicular, 1 mm long, coriaceous, no keel; margins involute, apex obtuse. Palea coriaceous, 2-nerved. Anthers 3, 0.6 mm long, yellow. Caryopsis with adherent pericarp. Notes Found in Andaman island, Australia, Burma, Java, and Malaysia. Distribution Central: Kolonedale, Tomata, Kamba.
