According to Johnson 1971 and Peterson Swing 1985, when students work in pairs, there is one person who listen and another person discuss the question as cited in Laal Ghodsi, 2012. In excerpt 32, the student mentioned that she learned to cope with some problems and learned how to work with other people. By working with their peers in the group, the student learned how to formulate their ideas and discuss them. While in excerpt 33, the student mentioned that working with group helped her to have problem solving skill because they needed to solve the problems. By learning to solve the problems, the student unconsciously developed her problem solving skills. “This subject also teach us on how to handle something when it goes wrong. However, the researcher interpreted that the student’s excerpt contained the collaborative learning contribution in problem solving. In excerpt 34, the problem solving was showed by the student through her explanation on how they learned to handle an incident when their plan went wrong. 2. Social Benefits

In this part, the researcher discussed the contributions of collaborative learning perceived by students in their social aspect. The contributions of collaborative learning in social aspects perceived by the students toward students’ communication skills, social skills, team work skills, and personality development.

a. Communication Skills

The researcher found that through collaborative learning in Play Performance class, the students perceived that collaborative learning had a contribution to communication skills of the students. The researcher found this contribution was perceived by the students from their excerpt in their reflection paper. “It is because this project is proceeded along one semester, during the production process I also communicate a lot with one another.
