In excerpt 21, the student was aware that in Play Performance class they would have their work and process together. They also had to trust one another and help each other. While in excerpt 22, the student wrote that the student put all her trust in his friend whom she thought had the quality and experience in that part of work.

9. Evolving a Sense of Community

As the ninth characteristic of collaborative learning, evolving a sense of community was on the seventh place on the research finding that showed the characteristic of collaborative learning that frequently appeared. This characteristic was mentioned in both reflection papers for the midterm test assignment and for the final test assignment gaining 125 excerpts. There were 58 excerpts in the reflection papers for the midterm test assignment, and there were 67 excerpts in the reflection papers for the final test assignment. Evolving a sense of community made the student feel and experience the sense of community while working together and having collaborative learning in Play Performance class. In their reflection papers, they wrote about other’s weaknesses which could be covered by the other members. They were aware about this and they acquired the essence of community life. “Besides, I have also planned to take a part as a lighting-man or music director even though I wanted to be one of the players. The reason was because I also took SPD class this semester and I was unsure whether I could handle it or not if I chose to be a player.
