3.2.6 Forestry and Biodiversity Sector
As has been formulated n the Strategy and Acton Plan of Indonesa Bodversty, the vson for Indonesan bodversty s “actualzaton of the
Indonesan communty that care, capable, ndependent and smart n conservng and utlzng the bodversty n an optmal, far and sustanable
way trough responsble management to ncrease the communty welfare”. The bodversty acton plan for 2003-2020 could be dvded nto ive man themes,
namely: 1 development of communty and ndvdual capacty to manage the bodversty; 2 development of resource, technology and local wsdom;
3 ncrease the conservaton and rehabltaton of bodversty; 4 ncrease the nsttuton capacty and polcy nstrument; and 5 ncrease the capacty
to solve the conlct. In each theme, programs are proposed along wth the success ndcator and the nsttuton n charge for the mplementaton. These
all become measures to address bodversty crss and restore ts role as the asset of the naton.
Clmate change wll greatly nluence the exstng ecosystem that drectly mpact to the sustanable of bodversty. Ths of course wll become a

challenge to Indonesa to acheve ts bodversty vson. The adaptaton agenda on clmate change s expected could reduce the pressure to
ecosystem, such as polluton and excessve utlzaton of the resource, that could damage the system and extnct the speces. Forestry and bodversty
acton plan nclude: •
Forest regulate the mcro clmate and gve nature servce such as water to the communty and the downstream user, locaton of varous bo resource,
and gve the forest product as wood and non tmber such as resn, rattan, honey and medcne materal that could be used as means of lvelhood
for the communty surroundng the forest. Clmate change could gve serous mpact to ts nature servce as well forest damage such as forest
ire f forest n not well manage. Protecton to the forest ecosystem plays an mportant role n the contnuty of the rchness of forest product and
the servce of nature.
• Indonesa s a country wth very hgh bodversty. Clmate change could
gve serous mpact to these bodversty. Therefore, there s a need to make nventory of the Indonesa bodversty. Therefore, a genetc bank
for plant speces of Indonesa should be establshed. Then those the bo- rchness could be mantan for the naton beneit.
