Directive and expressive categories only exist one time. Similar to the findings of the first theme, the typical characteristic of TYS column in the theme is that all opinions are presented using assertive category. Moreover, in the text which has more than one speech act category, assertive category always accompanies one of other categories. The text writers prefer to support President Jokowi to choose the best KPK leader through their agreement. They also explains what President Jokowi does in choosing the best KPK leader. Here, the example of the findings are provided: 22 TD.29 The track record shows it all. I want the President to drop the eight names because we need the best persons and figures to lead the Corruption Eradication Commission KPK. The text has two-sentence length and two speech act categories. Those are assertive and directive categories. It is clear that assertive category accompany directive category in the text. The text writer uses assertive category before directive category in the text. The first sentence shows the text writer’s assertive category through his clarification. After that, the text writer wants the President to do an action in the second sentence.

5. Theme E: Govt Urged to Handle Haze Issue Seriously

Haze had blanketed Sumatra, Kalimantan and even neighboring countries. This always happened every year and somehow there was no strong law 43 enforcement response. The researcher found out that the readers of TYS column gave 11 texts toward the issue. All text writers prefer to commit themselves to the truth of the proposition in giving the opinions. The text writers support the government to solve the haze problem.
