3. The Appropriate English Learning Materials for Grade XI Students of

Patisserie Study Programme Based on the results of the needs analysis and the expert judgement, the appropriate English learning materials for grade XI students of Pharmacy Study Programme can be concluded. The topics of the units of the developed materials should be related to the pharmacy field. This aims to gain the students’ interest and by making the topics related to their field of study, the learning process will be meaningful. Next, the developed materials consist of three units which have some parts including introduction, main lesson, reinforcement, intermezzo and confirmation. The introduction part shows the title of the unit, brief explanation of the unit and also warming up activities in each cycle which are expected to help students activate their schema related to the topics and make them ready to learn. The main lesson part consists of two cycles: Spoken Cycle and Written Cycle. Each cycle has several tasks which are developed to help students achieve the goals in the basic competences of Curriculum 2006. Spoken Cycle provides the students with several tasks that will help them in enhancing their listening and speaking skills. Written Cycle provides the students with several tasks that will help them in enhancing their reading and writing skills. Both cycles start with warming up activities to help students prepare the following lessons. The tasks in these cycles are related to the topic discussed both in the language and grammar focus. The reinforcement part which consists of Summary and Reflection helps students in recalling the memory of what they have learned in the unit and assessing their achievement by knowing their success and lack in learning the materials in the unit. The intermezzo part provides the students some facts and useful information related to the Pharmacy Study Programme. The last part which is confirmation consists of Word Bank. It provides vocabulary list related to the topic in the unit to help the students find the meaning of specific words in Bahasa Indonesia and also help them in pronouncing those words by giving the phonetic transcriptions.
