5. Virus

Diduga menyebabkan kanker payudara. Faktor susu Bittner adalah suatu virus yang menyebabkan kanker payudara pada tikus yang ditularkan melalui air susu. Antigen yang serupa dengan yang terdapat pada virus tumor payudara tikus telah ditemukan pada beberapa kasus kanker payudara pada manusia tetapi maknanya tidak jelas Rubin, 2003.

Berdasarkan gambaran histologisnya, WHO tahun 2003 membagi tumor pada payudara menjadi:
