GIVING ADVICE Giving advice refers to when we tell other people of what we think could help them. The most common way to give advice is by using the modal verb ‘should’ and ‘would’. SHOULD Should can be used for giving an advice in the present. The structure is as follows: Subject + Should + Stem Verb V1  You should eat healthy food.  You should exercise every day. Should can also be used for giving an advice in the past. Here is the structure: Subject + Should + Have + Past Participle  You should have gone to the party.  She should have studied more often.
