3.5 – 7.5 12 cm, breadth 1.5 – 2.5 4 cm, elliptic – oblong or oblanceolate, apex acute, base rounded – sub cordate, with strongly unequal side,
membranous, on both side pilose in the youngest leaves, on both side glabrous in adult leave, on both side tomentose on the midrib and veins; nerves 8 – 11
pairs, reticulation faint, scalariform; petiole leaf short, 1 – 2 mm long, puberulent. Flowers extra axillary or subterminal; peduncle short, frequently
flower, pedicel and peduncle of the same length. Sepal on the outside pilose, on the inside glabrous, ovate, acute;
Petals two times longer than sepal, lanceolate, obtuse, on the inside apex suddenly bent inward, at the margin
thickened, not connate; stamen 18 in two rows; apex receptacle globose, strongly pilose; carpel 7, ovule 1; fruits small, globose, base angulate, strongly
pilose, small size like pea.
DISTRIBUTION : NEW GUINEA Aru Isl., Papua Province Sorong, Manokwari, Bintuni, Nabire, Sarmi and Jayapura and Papua New Guinea
Madang District, Morobe district, a Madang Districtnd Central district. ECOLOGY
: Grow in primary rain forest on sandy soil with altitude up to 1550 meters above sea level.
NOTES : This species can be distinguished from all other Popowias by small size leaf with strongly unequal side.
