1. First Questionnaire
The first questionnaire was intended for the students. It was used to find some information about students’ characteristics and needs of English
learning. There were 20 items in this questionnaire. a. Validity
To fulfill the validity requirements for the first questionnaire, the researcher used construct validity. To obtain the
construct validity, the researcher consulted the outline of the questionnaire to the first supervisor to know whether or not the
questionnaire was capable of providing information about students’ characteristics and needs. Some references used to know the
students’ profiles, previous knowledge, and attitudes toward English, interest, learning style, learning goal, and expectation
Tomlinson, 1998; Hutchinson and Waters, 1987; Punter, 2006. The organization of the first questionnaire is presented as follows.

b. Reliability There were three steps conducted to show the reliability of
the questionnaire. First, the questionnaire was administrated to 23 students as the subject of the study. There are 5 possible points; 5
points for Strongly Agree SA, 4 points for Agree A, 3 points for Neutral N, 2 points for Disagree DA, and 1 point for Strongly
Disagree SA. Second, the questionnaires were recapitulated after all the questionnaires are given back to the researcher. Third, the
Alpha Cronbach formula was used to find the reliability coefficient of the questionnaire.
