1 Before You Listen This is a pre-listening activity which is aimed to activate student’s
background knowledge on the topic discussed which consists of pre- listening questions and vocabulary items.
2 Sound of the World This is a whilst-listening activity through information gaps activity.
3 What in Words This is a post-listening activity which checks student’s comprehension on
the text they listen through guessing the meaning of the words based on the text they hear.
4 Chant Along This part is aimed as a model of student’s pronunciation. In this part,
students are able to practice their intonation and stress through listening and repeating the jazz chant and tongue twisters.
The slide show materials are equipped with a manual. Beside serves as a guideline in doing the exercise in the slideshow, the manual also serves as
answer sheet to the questions in the slideshow.
2. Classroom Materials
a. Warming Up The purpose of this part is to activate student’s knowledge on the
materials in the slide show. This part consists of discussion of slideshow materials and also games which serves as warmer before
entering the main activity.
b. Express Your Mind This part consists of theory that prepares them to the upcoming
activity. The theory is in the form of list of useful expressions and basic theory of Public Speaking.
c. Speak Out Loud This is the main activity of the speaking class in which students are
encourage to practice their public speaking skill by relating the knowledge they had from the whole reading and listening activities
with their own knowledge through delivering oral presentation and in depth discussion about a certain issue and also other various activities
such as games and role play. Students are also encouraged to give feedback to their friend’s performance through the feedback form
provided.
d. My Blogger In this part students are encourage to have a reflection on the whole
learning process they had through composing a journal. This part also serves as feedback form for the instructor through writing comments in
the given place.

1. Description of the Course
This course aims to promote student’s oral competency especially their public speaking skill. By the end of the course it is hoped that the students will
be able to express their opinion and argument as fluently as possible, state their preference and opinion in wide social range, argue and differ in a good
manner, and also develop wider knowledge. The instructional speaking materials will be designed in an integrated fashion. Here, the speaking skill is
integrated with other skills such as listening, reading, and writing. The materials designed also make use the principle of content-based language
instruction since it has advantages such as such as provide a wider knowledge and develop thinking skill that surely promote meaningful learning.
2. Subject Contents
This course consists of ten units which are as follows: a. Unit 1. Cut and Paste

Each unit consists of two parts, which are Before the Class materials and In- Class materials:
a. Multimedia Materials
This part is intended as a preparation to the materials and activity that students will have in the speaking class, thus it is done outside the speaking class. The
materials are presented in form of slide show which is put in compact disc CD with a user friendly operation which is equipped with its manual. This
part consists of two sections as follow: 1 Reading Section
The first section is reading section in which students read short text and answer questions related to the text. This section consists of three parts,
namely Before You Read, World in Words, and Comprehension Question.
2 Listening Section The second section is listening section in which students listen to audio
materials and answer questions related to the materials they hear. This section is also intended as a model for students’ pronunciation in class
