CHAPTER V CONCLUSIONS AND SUGGESTIONS
This chapter presents discussions about two major parts which are the conclusions of the study and the suggestions for English instructors and other
researchers.
A. CONCLUSIONS
In this section, the writer would like to present the conclusion on the study. There are two major conclusions can be drawn. The first conclusion
concerned with the potential of integrated language instruction and the second dealt with the respondents’ opinion on the designed materials. After a long
process and reading many resources, the writer drew the first conclusion that the integrated language instruction is potential in promoting the language learning
process. It gives some benefits both for students and teachers. The integrated language instruction contributes a real-life integration of
language skills and promoting students’ knowledge as well as their language proficiency. It also provides teachers with a great deal of flexibility in creating
interesting and motivating lesson. The fast development of information technology provides a great deal of sources to be used by teachers to develop
materials on integrated language instruction. This benefits teachers as well as students as it gives them opportunity to keep up with technology development
which surely be beneficial for their future study or working life.
The second conclusion concerned with the opinion gained on the designed materials. This deals with whether the materials can be accepted as instructional
materials in teaching Speaking IV in the English Language Education Study Program of Sanata Dharma University. The respondents’ opinion was analyzed
and divided into two categories. The first category was respondents’ opinion for the development of the materials. The grand mean of this category was 3.43 out of
four points of agreement. This result implies that the integrated English supplementary speaking materials for Speaking IV subject were well developed.
The second category was respondents’ opinion on the impact of the designed materials towards students’ learning. The grand mean of this category
was 3.10. This result implies that the designed materials had good and significant impact on students’ learning. In summary, based on the descriptive statistic
analysis, the integrated English supplementary speaking materials for Speaking IV subject in English Language Education Study Program of Sanata Dharma
University was good and acceptable.
B. SUGGESTIONS
