Students’ Perception on the Implementation of Group Video

80 73.33 of the total respondents agreed with the statement. The respondents could express themselves to speak English through the group video project. The respondents knew what kind of expressions that the respondents needed in their conversation on the group video project. It made the respondents enjoyed speaking using English language because the respondents might express their own expressions. Statement number thirty seven resulted only 3.33 of the respondents strongly disagreed and 3.33 of the respondents disagreed that the respondents knew in what part of their speech which was needed to be improved in the process of creating group video. There were 73.33 of the respondents agreed and 20 of the respondents strongly agreed that the respondents knew in what part of their speech which was needed to be improved in the process of making group video. The total respondents who disagreed with the statement were only 6.66 of the respondents and the total respondents who agreed with the statement were 93.33 of the respondents. In the process of creating group video project, the respondents always repeated their speeches in order to get the best result of their works. Thus, it helped the respondents to know the correct words in English and also the correct arrangement of a sentence in speaking English. The result of statement number thirty eight presented 10 of the respondents strongly disagreed and 16.67 of the respondents disagreed that the respondents had more time to prepare materials to speak English through that group video project. 56.67 of the respondents agreed and 16.67 of the respondents strongly agreed that the respondents had more time to prepare 81 materials to speak English through that group video project. Totally, 26.67 of the respondents disagreed with the statement and 73.34 of the respondents agreed with the statement. The respondents had more time in preparing the materials to speak English through group video project, it made the respondents be easier in practicing speaking English. When the respondents were speaking English in the classroom, the respondents did not have much time to prepare their speech, thus the respondents usually tended to keep silence. Through the group video project, the respondents accustomed to prepare the materials to speak English, later on if the students being asked to speak using English language the respondents would be ready. The last statement was statement number thirty nine. This result of the statement presented none of the respondents strongly disagreed and only 6.67 of the respondents disagreed that the respondents also learned how to pronounce English words correctly using that group video project. Meanwhile, 66.67 of the respondents agreed and 26.67 of the respondents strongly agreed that the respondents also learned how to pronounce English words correctly using that group video project. There were only 6.67 of the respondents disagreed with the statement and there were 93.34 of the respondents agreed with the statement. The respondents also learned how to pronounce English words correctly through group video project because the respondents repeated the conversation until the word pronounced correctly. In order to have better ability in practicing speaking English, the respondents repeated the miss-pronunciation into the correct one, thus the respondents repeated practicing speaking English more often. 82 The researcher also presented the data from the open-ended questionnaire. The respondents mostly stated that they could practice speaking English and they could improve their speaking skill, it motivated the students to learn English better than before, students were more confident to speak in front of others, and students knew how to pronounce English correctly. The respondents believed that through group video project they could learn how to pronounce the English words correctly, made the respondents were confident to speak English, and also motivated the respondents to practice speaking English more often. The researcher also used the result of the interview to support the data and also to crosscheck the result from the questionnaire. The result of the interview showed that all of the interviewees stated that through group video project, the respondents could practice speaking English in fun and interactive way. Through practicing speaking English, the respondents also learned about the pronunciation. The respondents knew how to pronounce English words correctly. The researcher concluded that through the group video project, students had more time to practice speaking English, the respondents always practice speaking English repeatedly, the respondents had willingness to speak English, the respondents could speak English freely, the respondents knew in what part of their speeches that were needed to be improved, the researcher had more time in preparing the materials to speak English, and the respondents also learned the pronunciation of the English words correctly through this group video project. 83

CHAPTER V CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

This chapter presents the conclusions and the recommendations. The conclusions contain the summary of the research findings related to the research problems. The recommendations contain of suggestions for the teachers, the students, and the future researchers.

A. Conclusions

The aims of this research were to find out the students’ perception on the use of group video in speaking practice and the students’ perception on the implementation of group video. There were two research questions which were presented in this research namely 1 W hat is the students’ perception on the use of group video in English speaking practice? 2 What is the students’ perception on the implementation of group video? The first finding relat ed to the students’ perception on the use of group video based on the data showed that students had positive perception toward group video. Respondents were interested to practice speaking English through group video. Through group video, the respondents were free to express themselves in speaking English. The positive perception of the students about group video made the students excited to practice speaking English more often. Respondents were more confident to speak English in front of the class and they could participate to share their ideas in the learning activity. 84 Based on the result of the research, the second finding toward the students’ perception on the implementation of group video showed that almost all of the respondents had positive perception on the implementation of group video in their English speaking practice. The respondents had more time to practice speaking English outside the classroom. The intensity in using English to communicate among the students in the classroom was increased because the students practiced speaking English repeatedly through group video. The respondents also learned how to pronounce English words correctly. Therefore, the respondents also found some difficulties in creating group video. The respondents mostly had difficulty in getting good internet connection. In the group video, the respondents still felt unconfident to speak English because they were afraid of making mistakes in their speeches.

B. Recommendations

In this part, the researcher gives recommendations for the English teachers, the students, and also for the future researchers who are interested in conducting research with similar topic. The first recommendation is for the English teachers. Based on the findings on this research, group video brought benefits that could help students in their English speaking practice. Therefore, the teachers should be aware of the video production and also figure on the internet connection for the students. Other important thing that the English teachers should remember about the materials or the topic that will be used to create the video project has to be suitable for the students and make sure that it can elaborate 85 students to speak English more. The teachers have to give feedback and suggestions for the group video, thus the students can get the best result of their group video projects. The teachers should also discuss the time for finishing the video project with the students. The second recommendation is for the students. The students should realize the importance of group video toward their speaking practice. Therefore, the students will make the group video enthusiastically. Related to the speaking practice, the students should practice it intensively to get better improvement and are not easy to be satisfied only in one trial. The last recommendation is for the future the researchers. The researcher suggests that the future researchers create deeper research related to the use of group video in speaking practice. Since this research focused on the perception, the future researchers can conduct the research about the effectiveness of group video, the improvements of speaking skills after using group video, group video in developing motivation, and other study that the future researchers can conduct.
