Penentuan kadar aspal optimum dilakukan di Laboratorium menggunakan Marshall Test dengan variasi kadar aspal 6,5, 6.75, 7, 7.25 dan 7.5.
Metode ini sering disebut dengan metode Asphalt Institute. Dari pengujian marshall didapatkan nilai densitas, porositas, stabilitas, Flow dan Marshall
Quotient MQ. Hasil perhitungan selanjutnya ditampilkan pada Tabel 4.9. Hasil pengujian Marshall untuk benda uji dengan campuran Hot Rolled Sheet dengan
filler abu vulkanik sebagai berikut :
