3. Action and observation
In this step, the action was done in the same time because the action and observation cannot be done separately. As mentioned earlier, the
implementation of action in this research study were done in two cycles. Each cycle was done in three meetings. The action conducted based on the lesson
plan that has been designed. During the implementation of the technique, the researcher needed to
observe the students’ behaviour and progress. The data from the observation described in the field note. Meanwhile, the researcher collected the students
and teacher’s opinions and feelings through interview before and after the teaching and learning process.
4. Evaluation and reflection
The researcher evaluated all the process and problems occurring in the implementation of graphic organizers in the teaching and learning process on
the Cycle I. The result of this evaluation would determine the decision needed to be taken in the next cycle. The data taken from the observation, interview,
students’ worksheet and test were considered here. If the implementation of the action was successful, the researcher will continue to the next cycle. However,
if the implementation of the action is unsuccessful, the researcher would consider to modify the action with the consideration of the previous reflection.

CHAPTER IV RESEARCH FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION
The purpose of this research is to improve the students writing skill through the use of graphic organizers. This chapter discusses the process of
the research that consist of reconnaissance, the selection of the problem based on the urgency level, determining the action to overcome the selected
problem, research process, research findings and discussion.
A. Reconnaissance
In this step, the researcher did some activities to obtain the preliminary data of the teaching and learning process of recount text in
Grade VIII B SMP N 5 Wates, especially writing. First, the researcher did an observation toward the teaching and learning process of recount text in
the class. After that, she conducted an interview to acquire the opinion of the students and the teacher toward the teaching and learning process of
recount text especially in writing. Last, the researcher organized a pre-test for students to find out the actual problem in students’ writing of recount
text.
