c. Workaholic

Natasha likes to work, and she loves her job much that she is very proud of being a head of drama for the most successful independent TV Company in Britain. From her job, she could afford luxurious things such as well designed clothes and expensive cosmetics. It can be seen from the quotation below: “Natasha had to keep reminding herself that she wasn’t exactly hard done by herself: she had a job as head of drama for the most successful independent TV Company in Britain, which meant enough money to buy pretty much anything she wanted, an amazing flat in the center of London and a hotline to the ma Î tre d’ of each of the capital’s best restaurants. ….” 10 As a head of popular TV drama program, Natasha gets many important duties to do that takes much her time and energy. She is so busy with her job, meeting important people for her script, traveling overseas, handling contracts and debating for auditions. It is showed by the quotation below: “Over the next week Natasha was super-busy: going back and forwards to the studios, holding meetings about various scripts, arguing about casting, not to mention the New York trip flying first class and staying at the Four Seasons and a night in Zurich, ….” 102 Even sometimes she didn’t have enough time to ease herself, for example she didn’t have enough time to prepare herself before she went to Marcus’ wedding as quoted from the novel: “I know. I’ve just got back from a meeting in Munich. Didn’t have time to change.” 11 Although she does not have enough time for her pleasure and rarely has time for hanging out with her friends, but Natasha really enjoys her job. She does her job seriously that she wants to show her responsibility and her triumph to others. Therefore, people who have been acquainted with her know that she is fond of her 56 career. “Well, she’s so busy with her career,” Rite clucked. “She was telling me all about her new place earlier. Sounds divine.” 30. “Just been in Munich apparently, and she’s off to New York soon for a big meeting.” 31 Natasha often spends her time to work, either in her office or in her flat after work. She rarely has dinner or has drink outside after work. For her exception, she doesn’t think having a date with a man is important or serious. She prefers to spend her day hanging out with her friends or reading scripts or magazine at her comfortable flat. And sometimes, she felt guilty of having no time for her friends. “Guys,” she said awkwardly. “I’ m really, really, really sorry, but I’ m going to have to go.” “But we’ve just got here.” “It’s work. There is a crisis. They need me there. Sorry, Soph.” She turned to Olly. “I do apologize.” 309 Since she gets so busy of her business, Natasha also hardly ever visits her family in her home town. She usually greets her parents and her sister only by phone. Natasha goes home only if there are special occasion such as in Steven’s wedding – Natasha’s old friend who still lives in her home town. But then, she also does not have enough time to stay. “Oh angel, are you leaving so early? We were all going to go back to ours for a nice cuppa and a post mortem.” “No, we have to go. I’ve got work in the morning.” “On a Sunday? Angel, you never stop. Andy, you tell her to take it easy. She can be a bit of a workaholic, you know.” 421 From Natasha’s routines of being busy for her career every day that she hardly ever has time for herself, her friends, and for her family, it can be brought to a close
