1. Unit 1: Making New Friend

The purpose of this unit is to provide some activities which are commonly faced by the students in the first time they meet someone or new friends. The students will learn about introduction, making invitations, and describing feeling by the end of this unit. This unit is accomplished based on the English lesson syllabus for Sekolah Menengah Atas SMA with the basic competence of comprehending basic expressions for social interactions. The more description of each lesson stated as follows.

a. My Name is Habibie

This unit facilitates the students to be able to introduce theirselves and others politely. They can identify the expressions used to introduce theirselves in 63 the conversation correctly and gather their friends’ information identities. In the main activity, the students are expected to play a mini role play based on the identity card provided. This activity will assist the students to actively practicing how to act and response when they are meeting someone at the first time.

b. Let’s Go

By completing this lesson, the students are expected to be able to make and deal with invitation corectly. They can accept and refuse an invitation in polite and appropriate way by identifying and practicing the conversations provided in the dialogues. The students are asked to work in groups to compose a mini conversation dealing with invitation based on some situations provided.
