There are four exercises in AFORN; 1 Vocabulary, 2 Useful Expression, 3 Tasks, and 4 Pronunciation Drill. All the activities and features
can be accessed by the students in simple way. This is based on principle of
equitable use. Vocabulary practice provides the learner pictures or medical terms
dealing with the topic being discussed in each unit. In this section, students can also hear the correct pronunciation of the term and practice it with the feedback
after it. The students can still do this activity even though there is no internet connection. If the students make mistakes they can revise it or try again the
activity. Useful Expression provides the students with some expression which are
usually used in the conversation with the patients. The expressions help the students to produce proper dialog with patients. The students can also hear the
spoken expressions . The students can only click the button „play‟ to hear the
correct pronunciation. They can do it in many times. Tasks section consists of three exercises, namely; Jumbled Words, Listening Practice, and Group
Assessment. In Jumbled Words, student should arrange the jumbled words into
100 a good sentence. They can revise it until they get correct answer since the
feedback will directly appear after clicking the button „answer‟. By rearranging the jumbled words, the students get practice on grammar and structures of
English. The second exercise in Tasks section is Listening Practice. In this part
students will learn conversations by native speakers, the text is also provided but there are some words missing. So, the students must complete the text. No internet
connection needed in this part. The students can just simply fill in all the blanks
and then click button „check‟ to know the result. The last part in Task section is Group Assessment. In this part, the students make dialog with the topic chosen
then they should submit the recorded dialog to the lecturer. The last is
Pronunciation Drill which provides some medical terms completed with
pronunciation practice. The students can hear the correct pronunciation then practice it. The feedback will also appear after. After completing exercises in each
unit, the students can go to Review. Review helps the students recognize many
nursing equipments, such as cotton swab, blood pressure monitor, lancets, etc. All the exercises are completed with feedback and also scoring so the students know
their progress. In the end of the learning even only learn in one unit or all unit, then the
students should enter the data like name and student number. The data then will be saved in the application. The data shows how many times a student has entered
the AFORN. Besides the five lessons, Review and many other activities, there are
also Forum zone and About zone. In Forum zone, the students can chat with
their peers or lecturer. It helps the students have group discussion. The discussion can be via email, Blackberry Messenger BBM, BBM Group, WhatsApp,
101 Facebook Messenger, Short Message Service SMS, Google Drive, Google +,
Bluetooth, Line , Wifi, or Dropbox. About zone provides information about the
application, author, and references. The choice of exercises and activities also considered the Brown‟s
