Sebagian aktivitas dalam bidang pemasaran difokuskan untuk menjalankan kegiatan Public Service Obligation PSO, yakni pemasaran produk BBM dan Liquified Petroleum Gas LPG bersubsidi yang ditugaskan oleh Pemerintah. Dalam memasarkan produk BBM bersubsidi, Pemerintah telah menetapkan harga patokan sebesar Mid Oil Plats Singapore MOPS + Alpha, dimana besarnya alpha sangat bergantung pada kebijakan yang ditetapkan oleh Pemerintah. Sedangkan harga patokan produk LPG bersubsidi Pemerintah adalah sebesar persentase tertentu dari Contract Price CP Aramco + sejumlah nilai dalam Rupiah. Sampai tahun 2008 Pertamina ditunjuk oleh Pemerintah untuk mendistribusikan produk BBM-PSO dan LPG PSO ke seluruh Indonesia dengan harga jual diseluruh wilayah Indonesia berdasarkan ketentuan dari Pemerintah. Sedangkan untuk pasar BBM Non PSO dan Non-BBM harus bersaing dengan perusahaan lain di pasar domestik dengan menawarkan harga sesuai dengan harga keekonomian atau harga pasar. Part of the marketing activities are focused on conducting Public Service Obligation PSO activities, such as oil fuel and subsidized LPG distribution as commanded by the government. In distributing the subsidized oil fuel, the Government has set a certain base price that equal to Mid Oil Plats Singapore MOPS + Alpha, whereas the amount of alpha is highly dependant on the policy set by the Government. Meanwhile, base price of subsidized LPG product is equal to a certain percentage from the Contract Price CP Aramco + a Rupiah amount. Up to 2008, Pertamina was appointed by the Government to distribute the BBM-PSO products across Indonesia, with single price scheme across Indonesia set by the government. Meanwhile, the market for non-PSO oil fuel and other non oil fuel products must compete with other companies in the domestic market by offering currently economic-viable price.
