Generally, the content of the designed materials are well arranged and appropriate for enhancing speaking skills in communicating in class or at school and in teaching mathematics. 16 4 4.00 Note: X = mean ∑ x = the sum of participants’ answer N = the total number of learners participants Based on the result of the evaluation survey, the mean average of the designed materials was 4.36. It meant that the designed materials were well- designed and acceptable for teaching mathematics teachers of the seventh grade of junior high school studying at the bilingual preparation program of Wisma Bahasa Yogyakarta. However, revison and improvement of the materials was still needed based on the participants’ comments and suggestions.

3. Participants’ Comments on the Designed Set of Materials

In the questionnaire of Preliminary Field Testing, the participants were also asked to give their comments and suggestions on the designed materials. There were four questions to gain participants’ comments and suggestions. The first question asked about the strength and weaknesses of the designed materials. 83 The second question was about comments towards the designed materials. The next question asked the participants’ suggestions to improve the whole designed materials. The last question asked about the parts of the designed materials that need revision and improvement. From four participants, the writer got opinions on the strength of the designed materials. They were: a. The overall designed materials were well planned, well designed and well laid out for an amateurstudents. The overall concept and format of the materials can support the objectives of the materials. Besides, the arrangement of the designed materials is good and consistent. The topics and their activities are elaborated and structured well. b. Generally, the content of the designed materials are well arranged. All topics and activities is appropriate for enhancing speaking skills in communicating in class or at school and in teaching mathematics. c. Snapshot part section is very interesting to discuss. It is a good ice-breaker to direct learner’s attention to the topic. d. The conversations in each unit are very good. It gives a real example of situation in which a teacher uses the language expression and the mathematics part that will be discussed in the next part. e. In Classroom Language Expressions part, there is the Indonesian translation of the expression. It makes learners understand the expressions easier.
