97 became bəlɪvɪn or [ bəlɪ vɪn ] and the word group love you became lɒvjʊ or [ lɒ vjʊ ]. The variation showed that the structure of the syllable was rearranged to ease the pronunciation.

8. Gemination

Gemination is an action where the consonant to be lengthened. It is also called as double consonants meaning there is one consonant in the actual spelling but it is produced twice. Harris 1996 states that geminate sound also occurrs in the coda-onset content where the consonant at syllable final is also produced in the initial of the next syllable. Table 4.19: Gemination No Sound Total Frequency based on group of classification f in single word f in word group v in word group v in word group f and v in single word and word group 1 Labiodental fricatives 9 4 5 Total 9 4 5 From the table 4.18, we can see that there are 9 performances of gemination, 4 in v in single words and 5 in v in word groups. For further discussion we will see two examples from each type. The first type discuss is f in word group. there are two sub-type of this type, f followed by semi-vowel, if you ɪf juː and f followed by vowel enough is ɪnʌf ɪs. From the phonetic transcription we can see that there is only one f but in actual sound production PLAGIAT MERUPAKAN TINDAKAN TIDAK TERPUJI PLAGIAT MERUPAKAN TINDAKAN TIDAK TERPUJI 98 there are two f, such as [ ɪf fjʊ ] and [ ɪnʌf fɪs ]. It happened because when the tongue produced consonant sound at syllable final and the next sound was vowel, linking sound would happen. The followings are the figures of gemination that happened to f in word groups. Figure 4.14 if you ɪfjʊ or [ɪf fjʊ] enough is ɪnʌfɪs or [ɪnʌf fɪs] Similar to the previous type, v in word groups also underwent gemination, one before vowel and one semi-vowel. They are move I muːv aɪ and thoughts of you θɑːts ɒv juː . However, the Korean speaker modified those sound to be and . These cases were identical with the previouse types case, where the linking sound occurred within the onset-coda.
