Relational Process ―For we, the people, understand that our country cannot succeed

truths may be self- evident, they‘ve never hope. XXV, b Relational process, as a process of being, is appropriate to explain the complex relationships between some abstract items because it sounds definite. As a result, the process accounts for a large proportion in these addresses to elaborate the relationship between traditional ideals and their beliefs. Such an elaboration can reach the President‘s aim of making the reasoning naturally and unconsciously accepted and making the required sacrifice in the address willingly taken by the audience. Obama uses the relational process for delivering the re-shaped reality based on his view. He portrays the crisis faced by the country that occurs in the economy field, the political affairs, and in the issues of environment. He spreads the discourse to shift people‘s view into his view so that they will have the same base for deciding further actions. Obama also relates the people by attributing and identifying them with American shared value and historical knowledge. In the sentences above, the notion of nationalism, collectivism, and liberalism are attached as the quality of the Americans. By labeling them in such way, they will stand on the same ground and have the same root. Therefore they feel unified which results as a source of power for Obama to govern in the following term of office.

d. Behavioral, Verbal, and Existential Processes

The three major processes have been discussed above see Table 7. In this part the minor processes are also analyzed to see why they are given in a small proportion but still contribute some significance. The minor processes are the behavioral process, verbal process, and existential. Behavioral process occurs once in the first address and three times in the second address. Verbal process occurs nine times in the first address and two times in the second address. And the existential process occurs three times in the first address and only once in the second address. Their occurrences have not reach five percent of the overall percentage of the processes. However, it is worth to see where and how they used in the addresses. The first is the behavioral process which is a process that happens in a conscious mind and the actor is called as Behaver will be marked with underline. Below are the uses of the Behavioral process in the address.

1. And so, to all the other peoples and governments who are watching

today, from the grandest capitals to the small village where my father was born, know that America is a friend of each nation, and every man, woman and child who seeks a future of peace and dignity. 67, XVII, a 2. We, the people, declare today that the most evident of truths –- that all of us are created equal –- is the star that guides us still; just as it guided our forebears through Seneca Falls, and Selma, and Stonewall; just as it guided all those men and women, sung and unsung, who left footprints along this great Mall, to hear a preacher say that we cannot walk alone; to hear a King proclaim that our individual freedom is inextricably bound to the freedom of every soul on Earth. 64, XX, b It is seen from the samples that Obama attaches the Behavioral process to address the Americans and the governments. What he tries to do is to touch the consciousness of the people and makes the event comes to the action to the way
