G. Research Procedure
The research procedure can be explained as follows: 1. Conducting pre-design survey
The first procedure in this research was conducting pre-design survey. The writer distributed the closed form of questionnaires to the Language Program
of Senior High School Students Year XI in SMA Stella Duce 1 Yogyakarta. This procedure intended for the needs analysis survey in investigating the
students’ characteristics, needs, wants, lacks, and interest. 2. Stating the goals, topics and general purposes
The second procedure in this research was stating the goals, topics and general purposes. The writer specified the learning objectives to be achieved
in terms of measurable student behavioural outcomes. Furthermore, the writer also considered alternatives from which to select learning content, learning
experience, and resources needed to achieve the stated objectives. The writer also formulated the topic of the materials which were appropriate to the
students’ level of proficiency. The topic was based on the students’ interests that were conducted during the needs analysis survey.
3. Selecting teaching learning activities and resources The third procedure in this research was selecting teaching learning activities
and resources.

4. Developing a set of reading materials for the Language Program of Senior High School Students Year XI based on constructivist learning theory
46 The fourth procedure in this research was developing a set of reading
materials the students of Language Program of Senior High School Students Year XI based on constructivist learning theory. The writer constructed eight
units of reading materials the students of Language Program of Senior High School Students Year XI based on constructivist learning theory.
5. Conducting post-design survey The fifth procedure in this research was conducting post-design survey. The
writer distributed the questionnaires in mixed form. The form was closed form and open form. The writer used questionnaires in order to allow the
respondents to state their opinions, suggestion, and critiques of the design materials. The questionnaires were written in Indonesian so the respondents
would understand exactly what to be answered. The questionnaires were given to 5 five English teachers at the SMA Stella Duce 1 Yogyakarta and 2
two English lecturers at Sanata Dharma University. 6. Revising and making the final version of the materials
The sixth procedure in this research was revising and making the final version of the materials. This procedure was the implication of the previous
procedure. After getting the data analysis, the writer improved the materials so the materials would be applicable to the students. Finally, after revising the
